Dear JGANC,

 

My daughter played in the David Oxley Memorial Tournament this last Monday.  She also played in the vent two years ago as a nine hole player.

 

The Roseville men’s club has sponsored the tournament for 40 years with their members volunteering to make the event successful.

 

This is our 4th year in the JGANC, WHERE Marguerite has played in many tournaments.

 

The reason for this correspondence is to point out how well the event was run.  There were snacks and drinks for the kids upon arrival and range balls at no charge.  They had a starter at the first tee where rules were explained to both players and parents.  There were Spotters in the fairways locating balls and keeping up the pace of play.  A closest to the pin award for all age groups was also arranged.  Tee times were made available before the event via the golf course website.  The 12-14 year girls group went out last and managed a very impressive four hour and forty minute round.

 

We have been to various tournaments over the past years, many rated premier which did not come close to being run as well as the David Oxley tournament.  I feel this tournament is underrated and would a model to others running junior golf tournaments.

 

I wanted to express thanks to the Roseville golf club for their hard work and dedication
